Descripción : This research project highlighted the lack of an Intrusion Detection System (IDS) capable of effectively detecting and mitigating cyberattacks. Therefore, an analysis of the existing technological infrastructure at the Campus Complejo Universitario was conducted, with the proposal to use an IDS as a technological tool for detecting incoming threats and applying a defensive strategy to automate the blocking of public IP addresses of attackers. The methodology follows a qualitative, longitudinal approach through bibliographic research and the analytical-descriptive method. Interview techniques and data collection were used, implemented through a structured guide that allowed the gathering of relevant information using technological tools such as Dionaea as a Honeypot on the HoneyDrive operating system with the help of the VirtualBox virtualization program, as well as Python and CronJob to create the script for blocking IPs and automating the process, aligned with the lifecycle guidelines of Cisco's PPDIOO methodology. As a result, 18 cyberattacks of 3 different types were identified over a 30-day period, originating from 4 distinct IPs. It was concluded that the implementation of this technology improves the early detection of cyberattacks, optimizes incident response, and strengthens the information security culture within the university community.
