| Resumen : | El turismo sostenible como factor de desarrollo local del cantón Atacames, provincia de Esmeraldas" tiene como enfoque principal analizar cómo el turismo sostenible puede contribuir al desarrollo económico, social y ambiental de la región. El objetivo analizar de qué manera incide el turismo sostenible como factor de desarrollo local del canton Atacames de la provincia de Esmeraldas. Para ello, se empleó una metodología cualitativa, que incluyó entrevistas a actores clave, encuestas a la población local y un análisis de estudios previos sobre el tema. Los resultados indican que la gestión del turismo sostenible en Atacames enfrenta desafíos significativos, como la falta de participación social y el conocimiento limitado sobre prácticas sostenibles, lo que lleva a la degradación de los recursos turísticos. Además, se identificaron atractivos turísticos que podrían ser promovidos para impulsar el desarrollo local, a la vez que se subrayó la importancia de la educación y sensibilización en la comunidad. Los hallazgos revelan que una gestión adecuada del turismo sostenible puede generar beneficios económicos y mejorar la calidad de vida de los habitantes, pero es esencial abordar las barreras culturales y políticas que limitan la participación. En conclusión, el turismo sostenible tiene el potencial de ser un motor de desarrollo en Atacames, siempre que se implementen estrategias inclusivas y se fomente la colaboración entre todos los actores involucrados. |
| Descripción : | Sustainable tourism as a factor of local development in the Atacames canton, Esmeraldas province" aims to analyze how sustainable tourism can contribute to the economic, social, and environmental development of the region. The objective is to analyze how sustainable tourism impacts the local development of the Atacames canton in the Esmeraldas province. To do so, a qualitative methodology was used, which included interviews with key stakeholders, surveys of the local population, and an analysis of previous studies on the topic. The results indicate that sustainable tourism management in Atacames faces significant challenges, such as a lack of social participation and limited knowledge about sustainable practices, leading to the degradation of tourism resources. In addition, tourist attractions that could be promoted to boost local development were identified, while the importance of education and awareness-raising in the community was emphasized. The findings reveal that proper management of sustainable tourism can generate economic benefits and improve residents' quality of life, but it is essential to address the cultural and political barriers that limit participation. In conclusion, sustainable tourism has the potential to be a driver of development in Atacames, provided inclusive strategies are implemented and collaboration among all stakeholders is fostered. |
