| Resumen : | Este proyecto de investigación se realizó en la comunidad El Barro, ubicada aproximadamente a 9 km de la cabecera parroquial Puerto Cayo. Se estableció que era necesario realizar un diagnóstico turístico en la zona, en el cual se identificaron los recursos turísticos que posee, las características económicas, sociales y turísticas de la comunidad y el estado actual de la demanda turística hacia el sitio. Se emplearon las técnicas de la entrevista y la observación, las que permitieron conocer la realidad turística de la zona, a partir de la información primaria recolectada. Los resultados obtenidos fueron que El Barro no posee la infraestructura necesaria para recibir a los visitantes, que no existe demanda turística en la actualidad pero que sí existió en el pasado, a pesar de que el sitio cuenta con dos recursos que pueden ser de interés turístico. Se propuso dar a conocer a la comunidad El Barro como sitio de posible interés turístico, lo cual implicaría identificar los espacios donde se puedan insertar información sobre el sitio, definir los contenidos de la información turística a promocionar y diseñar los instrumentos adecuados de promoción turística |
| Descripción : | This research project was conducted on the site of the community El Barro, located 9 kilometres north from the Puerto Cayo parish centre. A tourism-oriented diagnosis of the site was deemed necessary so as to identify those natural resources which could be of interest for tourists, what was the current and past behaviour of tourism demand for the site as well as the social and economic features of the local population and its inclination to the development of tourism activities. Participative observation combined with interviews to the residents of the site to know the primary information of the area. Results show that currently El Barro lacks of some of the required infrastructure to properly address mainstream tourism. The site has no regular tourism demand nowadays, but it had in the past. Two sites in the area were identified as of possible interest for tourism activities. A proposal was outlined therefore to raise awareness of El Barro as an area deemed of interest for future tourism development, which implies identifying which spaces which might be used to place information of El Barro, to define the contents of such information and the design of the proper media to carry it on. |
