Evaluación del nivel de deterioro del pavimento vehicular, recinto Las Cañitas –Cuatro Caminos, parroquia Sucre cantón 24 de Mayo

Abstract

At present, the conservation of the state of the terrestrial roads has taken great importance, since they do not comply with the period of useful life for which they were commonly designed. With this purpose an evaluation of the level of deterioration of the vehicular pavement was made to the Vía Las Cañitas -Cuatro Caminos of the Sucre Parish, Canton May 24, since being designed as a second order road, a large number of vehicles pass through heavy and light exceeding the capacity for which it was designed, this is why the use of an easy application method called Pavement Condition Index -PCI that helped to know the surface and structural state of the pavement based on a fault inventory obtained by means of a field visit, in which the different classes were identified, the quantity, its magnitude and level of severity. In order to obtain the field data, the planimetric survey of the entire route was necessary, which was carried out through the use of the measuring tape instrument, calculating the number, length and intervals of the samples to be evaluated. Based on the results achieved, the inspection procedure performed on the record sheets with the respective calculations of the value deducted from each failure according to its severity is detailed until finding the corrected deducted value of each unit of sample analyzed, thus defining a type of timely and safe intervention for users. Finally it is concluded that the Vía Las Cañitas -Cuatro Caminos presents an excellent pavement which allowed to identify a more adequate maintenance and rehabilitation system with the lowest cost to society, for the conservation of the road.
