| Resumen : | El objetivo de esta investigación fue evaluar el comportamiento histórico de los incendios forestales en el cantón Esmeraldas, Ecuador, en el periodo 2009 – 2018. La información sobre los incendios en Esmeraldas fue obtenida en el Cuerpo de Bomberos de dicha localidad. El análisis de los datos se realizó tomando en cuenta las ocurrencias de los incendios en un contexto espacio-temporal (años, meses, días de la semana, horas del día y localidades). Durante el periodo analizado se reportaron un total de 98 ocurrencias de incendios con una media anual de 14,00 siniestros, siendo el año 2012 el de mayor porcentaje de ocurrencias de incendios (35,71%). También se obtuvo que en los meses de agosto a enero ocurrió el 97,95% del total de incendios ocurridos en el periodo objeto de análisis. Los incendios ocurrieron en 41 localidades concentrándose en siete de ellas el 43,88% del total. El 81,63% de los incendios se originó por negligencias. Independientemente de que en las bitácoras faltan informaciones importantes para realizar estos análisis, el trabajo realizado ha permitido establecer patrones espaciales y temporales de las ocurrencias de incendios, lo cual es de gran importancia para los decisores en el ámbito del manejo integral del fuego. |
| Descripción : | The objective of this research was to evaluate the historical behavior of forest fires in the Esmeraldas canton, Ecuador, in the period 2009 - 2018. The information on the fires in Esmeraldas was obtained from the Fire Department of that town. The data analysis was carried out taking into account the occurrences of fires in a spatial-temporal context (years, months, days of the week, hours of the day and locations). During the analyzed period, a total of 98 fire occurrences were reported with an annual average of 14.00 claims, with 2012 being the year with the highest percentage of fire occurrences (35,71%). It was also obtained that in the months of August to January 97,95% of the total fires occurred in the period under analysis. The fires occurred in 41 localities, concentrating in seven of them 43,88% of the total. The 81,63% of fires were caused by negligence. Regardless of the fact that the logs lack important information to carry out these analyzes, the work carried out has made it possible to establish spatial and temporal patterns of fire occurrences, which is of great importance for decision-makers in the field of integral fire management. |
